Time Event
Some folks seem to have stumbled on an old entry of mine. I've had to disable comments on thgat specific entry, and may move to screen comments if such behavior continues.
Surprised not to see anyone else on this
Am I the only one following what is going on in Georgia (the Asian one)?

Am I the only one who sees this as an inevitable outcome of the idiocy in Iraq and the failure of the Afghanistan War?

The fact that we could not mount a military offensive against Russia even if we wanted to is profoundly troubling. The fact that Russia has deliberately picked this time (when attention is focused on the Olympics, when the U.S. is essentially paralyzed by a combination of military problems, economic problems, and political campaigns, and when Europe is essentially useless) to demonstrate our helplessness has far greater foreign policy implications than what sentence Osama Bin Laden's driver got or how many gold medals Phelps wins.

This is so long-term bad in so many ways, from what it does to negotiations with Iran to what happens next in Europe and Asia, that I am appalled at how little attention it appears to be getting.

Ah well. Off to bed.
