FCC Defends Relaxation of Newspaper Broadcast Cross-Ownership Rule

Some of my colleagues are disappointed with the FCC for this. I'm not. Institutionally, the agency ought to defend its rules. Anything else puts stability of the system at risk whenever there is a political change. While we ought to rethink things when we have political shifts (that's how we keep the regulatory structure accountable), I see doing that through the regulatory process not by a failure to defend its decisions in court.
