Ancient Japanese Standing Stones Were Primitive Tsunami Warning System

Fascinating story here a several hundred years old set of stone markers along the Japanese coast was a set of instructions on how to avoid the dangers of a Tsunami following an earthquake. The markers contained such valuable information as "remember a Tsunami follows an Earthquake, chose life over possessions and run." One town, in fact, suffered little damage, because rather than rely on sea walls they built on the high ground designated as safe by the local stone monument.

House Rs Need To Read Constitution Better

Am now seeing that House Rs are castigating Senate for its failure to produce a budget. Problem, under Article I of the US Constitution, it is the responsibility of the House of Representatives to produce the budget because it is traditionally concerned with the raising of revenue.

"All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills."

Generally, the House rather jealously guards this prerogative. True, there are ways the Senate could end run this limitation. But the idea that the Senate is to blame because they failed to end run the Constitution rather stretches credulity.
