The actual cost of ISP notifications on copyright infringement

As I frequently point out, the cost of policing copyright infringement for ISPs is non-trivial. ISPs, of course, pass this cost on to us in the form of higher subscription fees. What has stymied me is trying to put a number on this.

This Ars piece on the "Six Strikes" MoU actually gives a number, $4-$32/notice. That comes from an Industry Canada study from some years ago, so I am less than thrilled with it. Still, it's the first vaguely credible number I've seen on the subject.
