I defend Cecilia Kang's "Free WiFi For The Masses" Washpo Piece
"Cecilia, your critics are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. Yes Cecilia, there is a plan for free WiFi for the masses.

"And it doesn’t take Santa Clause."

(To summarize: we are already at a point where the availability of free WiFi access points allows us to cobble together a best efforts "network of WiFi access networks" at a much lower cost than that offered by carriers. If the FCC were to free up 20 MHz contiguous of unlicensed as part of the Incentive Auction proceeding, the kind of "free WiFi for the masses" described by Kang through aggregation of improved open WiFi access points appears likely to occur simply as an extrapolation of existing trend lines and technologies.)
