"The silver chord is loosed, the golden bowl is broken, the pitcher is shattered at the fountain, the wheel at the cistern. It returns to the dust from whence it came, but the spirit returns to God who gave it."

Eccl. 12:6-7.

My cousin died this afternoon. Funeral will be Monday. No details yet.

Blessed is the Lord
He has not forbidden grief
Nor taken from us mourning
In the time of grieving, grieve.

Consider, the worm hated not the kikayon
Nor did the shemer the broken stone.
Reaping is not to punish the stalk
Nor does the gristmill torment the corn

Yet still is grief blessed
Remberance given to us
Say no happy words, no angry words
No chattering of fools to mask pain
But give words of comfort in the house of mourning
It is the mercy of the Lord
To feel the weight of absence
Therefore is the Lord to be praised

The kikayon did not cry out in anguish:
"Wherefore do you correct the prophet by me!"
Nor did the rock rebuke the Master Builder saying:
"Wherefore am I split and made a foundation?"
The wheat did not resent the show bread
Nor curse Him that commanded the twin loaves

What is the difference between man and beast?
They live alike, they die alike, and all is hevel
Save man alone has remembrance for a brief time
In the hearts of those he touches

Therefore will I bless the Lord
I shall bless the grief of my heart
I shall cherish it as a gift and remberance
And I shall dwell in the House of the Lord all the days of my life.
