Good Fair Use Decision in 4th Circuit

A company scans student papers to check for plagiarism or other forms of cheating. Students caught cheating sue, arguing that this unauthorized use of their copyrighted material violates the Copyright Act.

Held: iParadigm's use of the copyrighted material falls into the fair use exceptions of Section 107 of the Copyright Act.
