Link Harvest: Musicians Make More Money (Although Labels Lose More) In A World of File Sharing.

A most fascinating article and set of graphs about the music industry in Britain from the London Times website. The graphs nicely demonstrate that from 2004-08:

1. Revenues that accrued to record labels declined.

2. Revenues that accrue directly to artists, particularly live performance revenues, increased substantially.

3. The increase in direct-to-artist revenues was so dramatic that it offset the decline in record label revenues, resulting in an overall increase in revenues derived from music.

This is why we do studies and collect facts.
