Link Harvest: How Large ISPs Don't Innovate, But Focus on Crushing Competition

This Techdirt piece captures a basic truism about big companies. Innovation is hard, market power is easy. Where capitalism and free markets produce their advantages is only when actual competition exists. As the venerable patron saint of free markets Adam Smith observed, merchants will naturally tend to monopoly. But while Smith despaired of government being able to actually strop such behavior (while observing government should at least not encourage it), I am more hopeful.
