How Corporate Contributions Really Work

Comcast totally supports groups because they are a responsible Corporate Citizen. They would never demand that recipients of this money refrain from criticizing Comcast, or support Comcast's regulatory advocacy.

Unless, of course, you are a small non-profit training young women in media production as a means of empowerment. Then, of course, you decide to yank their funding based on a tweet you don't like.

List of things to add to "when I get to be the evil overlord."

"I will not pull funding from media savvy non-profits when they criticize me. Well, at least I will not put the reason for it in writing."

OTOH, I can guarantee that every non-profit that gets money from Comcast got the message. Even if they triple the grant to Reel Grrls in atonement, it was money well spent from their perspective.
