The further retreat to the 19th Century

I confess, I find it a sad day when pundits feel free to write it is 'unamerican' to register the poor to vote. But it is also shortsighted beyond measure. If you would encourage mob violence, the first step is to disenfranchise the mob and persuade them they have no business voting. It will only encourage them to explore alternatives.
