A Not So Brief History of DNS Blocking -- And Why It Still Sucks.

Return with me now to the mid-1990s, when getting control of the DNS through ICANN was the Holy Grail of every would-be Internet censor from the intellectual property mafia to anti-porn crusaders to national governments. When that didn't work out, DNS blocking and redirection enjoyed a lively existence as the province of hackers and dictators. Now, Congress wants to make it the law -- despite the fact that it bakes a permanent security hole into our broadband infrastructure.
